The week of Labor Day is short and quiet in the world of corporate earnings. Companies whose quarter ended at the end of June have already announced their results. The only exceptions at this point are some tiny stocks and companies who will fail to file their 10-Q on time. Most of the companies reporting this week finished their quarter in July.
Weekly highlights
About 40 companies release their results in the next four days, but among this small number there are some interesting stocks. One of them even has a famously excitable investor following (and no, I am not talking about Berkshire Hathaway). Here is the week’s rundown:
Lululemon Athletica (LULU): $1.40 Proximilar AI forecast vs. $1.18 Wall St analyst estimate consensus vs. $1.34 EPS whisper number
Zscaler (ZS): $0.14 Proximilar AI estimate vs. $0.09 consensus EPS estimate vs. $0.13 whisper number
Kroger (KR): $0.73 our estimate vs. $0.63 consensus vs. $0.74 whisper
Gamestop (GME): -$0.58 ours vs. -$0.67 consensus (yes, the meme stock with a very excitable investor base)
Copart (CPRT): $1.00 ours vs. $0.91 consensus
Coupa Software (COUP): $0.03 ours vs. -$0.06 consensus
RH (RH): $6.91 ours vs. $6.48 consensus
Smartsheet (SMAR): -$0.05 ours vs. -$0.13 consensus
Our AI sees Kroger, Caseys General (CASY) and Korn Ferry (KFY) as the likely outperformers this week, especially on revenues. We also expect Lululemon to beat both of its numbers handily.
Bragging rights
The third quarter of 2021 is not over yet, but as we noted earlier, almost all of its earnings are already in the proverbial history books. That means we have enough data to quickly check how well Proximilar did versus the analyst consensus this season.
The answer is… (drum roll, please) … we did very well!
We beat Wall Street fair and square: 69% of the time on EPS predictions, 72% of the time on revenue forecasts. Our EPS predictions were a whopping 31% more accurate than sell-side earnings estimates! That is consistent with the results our AI posted in recent quarters, and is a cause for a celebration.
Congrats to us and to our wonderful AI models! Perhaps we all deserve a day off!
